Books in 140 Seconds: Let the Great World Spin

Welcome back to your regularly scheduled edition of Books in 140 Seconds, one-take book club blitz straight from my kitchen. A couple weeks ago, Erin and I ran the Giller gauntlet, postponing our regular  videos to talk about all of the Giller nominated titles and even trying to predict the winner. (We didn’t, but then, who did?) Now we’re back on track. This week, Erin and I are chatting about Colum McCann’s Let the Great World Spin:

If you’d like to read along, next week we’re chatting about Kate Torgovnick’s Cheer!: Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders (or, you could prepare by watching Hellcats, but er, I’d recommend the book.)

Books in 140 Seconds: A Very Special Giller Edition (Part 4)

Four down, one to go! We’ll be back on Monday with a 140-second discussion of the final book, David Bergen’s The Matter with Morris.

But that was only round one of the sexy little scheme we call Reading Roulette.

Now after a brief hiatus (Erin got a new job, I got a new apartment, and we both got a little crazy), we’re ready to take it to the next level. ‘Cause complaining is easy, but standing up for a type of book that just got trashed? That’s when things start to get dangerous. But we’ve found five people who think we don’t need no haters are willing to try and prove those naysayers wrong:

For those who’d like to see historical fiction become a thing of the past (lookin’ at you Steph and Jennifer):
